NDT inspection services in Singapore
Drill pipe and tubular inspection, ultrasonic and phased array testing, eddy current, magnetic particle, penetrant, thermography and visual inspection. Carried out at our facility, in your machine shop or offshore.

Inspection methods
Our inspectors work under an ASNT Level III and use our own calibrated equipment. We pick the method to suit the part, the defect you are looking for and the standard you work to.
- Ultrasonic testing (UT)
- Flaw detection in welds and drill pipe, and wall thickness gauging.
- Phased array ultrasonic (PAUT)
- Sector and linear scans for faster, recordable weld and component inspection. Offered since 2016.
- Eddy current (ET)
- Surface crack detection on standard and galvanised parts, weld inspection, condenser tubes and crane components.
- Magnetic particle (MT)
- Yoke, coil and central conductor techniques for surface and near-surface cracks in ferrous parts.
- Liquid penetrant (PT)
- Red dye and fluorescent methods for surface-breaking defects.
- Infrared thermography
- Pumps, electrical systems and buildings, and quantified defect imaging on turbine parts.
- Visual inspection (VT)
- Corrosion and weld visual inspection, with aided visual where needed.
- Metallographic testing
- Sectioning and microstructure examination of welds, coatings and failed parts.
Oil country tubulars
Tubular inspection is where Metcon began in 1997, and it is still a core service for rig operators and pipe yards. See drill pipe inspection for the full scope.
- Drill pipe body inspection with EMI equipment
- Special end-area inspection
- Ultrasonic testing of drill pipe end areas
- Hard-face (hardbanding) inspection
- Machining and thread inspection
- Inspection after cleaning, with marking and reporting
Where we work

Frequently asked questions
Not covered here? Call +65 9060 0775 or send us the details.
Which NDT methods do you offer?
Ultrasonic testing (conventional and phased array), eddy current, magnetic particle, liquid penetrant, infrared thermography, visual inspection and metallographic testing, plus EMI inspection of drill pipe.
Can you inspect on site or offshore?
Yes. We work at our facility in Singapore, in your machine shop, at pipe yards, on rigs and offshore, and we also act as an independent third-party inspector.
Are you an approved vendor?
Yes. We have held vendor approvals from Aker Solutions and Premier Hytemp.
Who supervises your inspectors?
Inspection is led by an ASNT Level III. Our technicians are trained and certified in-house, the same programme that has certified over 3,800 personnel.
What is the difference between UT and phased array UT?
Conventional UT uses a single-element probe and reads one beam at a time. Phased array UT uses many small elements fired in sequence to sweep the beam, which images the weld or part, covers it faster and gives a recordable result.
Do you work outside Singapore?
Yes. We serve clients in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand.
