Proof-load testing from 100 kg to 100 tonnes using water bags, dead weights and hydraulic pullers, with load cell and flow meter calibration.

Test methods
- Water-bag testing
- Water bags filled to the required proof load, suited to cranes and large lifting gear on site or offshore.
- Dead-weight testing
- Calibrated test weights for workshop and yard proof loads.
- Pad-eye testing using a puller
- Hydraulic pullers apply the proof load directly to the pad eye, with the load read from a calibrated cell.
- Load cell calibration
- Calibration of the load cells used to measure the test.
- Flow meter calibration
- Calibration of flow meters for process and test equipment.

Before and after the test
We can check the design load by calculation or FEA before the test, and inspect welds and pad eyes by MT or UT after it. See welding and structural engineering and NDT inspection.

Water bags, dead weights or a puller: which do I need?
Water bags suit cranes and large lifting gear on site or offshore, because they are filled to the exact proof load. Dead weights suit workshop tests. A hydraulic puller tests a pad eye directly when there is nothing to hang a load from.
Do you inspect the equipment after the test?
Yes. We can check welds and pad eyes by magnetic particle or ultrasonic testing after the proof load, and check the design by calculation or FEA beforehand.
Do you calibrate load cells?
Yes, along with flow meters.
